Comstock Wins Republican ‘Firehouse’ Primary

State Del. Bar­bara Com­stock (R) won the Re­pub­lic­an nom­in­a­tion for re­tir­ing Rep. Frank Wolf’s (R) seat in a party-run “fire­house” primary on Sat­urday. Com­stock had wide­spread sup­port, in­clud­ing en­dorse­ments from Wolf, whom she worked for, Mitt Rom­ney, Newt Gin­grich, and Ma­jor­ity Lead­er Eric Can­tor (R). She cast her­self as an ex­per­i­enced prag­mat­ist. “Con­gress is in des­per­ate need of prob­lem solv­ers and I in­tend to use my com­mon sense prin­ciples to bet­ter the lives of my con­stitu­ents when I am elec­ted in Novem­ber,” she said. Com­stock will face Fair­fax County Su­per­visor John Foust (D) in Novem­ber.
