Conyers Officially Fails to Make Ballot

Rep. John Con­yers (D) did not qual­i­fy for his primary bal­lot, Wayne County Clerk Cathy Gar­rett an­nounced. Only 592 of his 2,000 sig­na­tures were deemed val­id after his pe­ti­tions were chal­lenged and it was re­vealed that two of his sig­na­ture gather­ers were not re­gistered voters. He needed at least 1,000 val­id sig­na­tures. The cam­paign is likely to fol­low through with a leg­al chal­lenge, and Con­yers can con­tin­ue with a write-in cam­paign. (The Hill)
