A Quinnipiac University poll shows Rep. Bruce Braley (D) leading state Sen. Joni Ernst (R) 44% to 40%. The crosstabs show a gender gap, where women back Braley 47% to 36%, and men back Ernst 44% to 40%.

Voters indicated that they thought Braley would do a better job than Ernst on issues including the economy and jobs, the new federal health care law, immigration, same-sex marriage, the environment, the minimum wage, helping the middle class, and gun control.

Ernst, they said, would do a better helping farmers and on government spending (June 12-16, 1,277 RVs, +/- 2.7%). (Des Moines Register)

ENDORSEMENTS: The National Right to Life Committee is backing Ernst.

“As a state senator, Joni Ernst has been an outspoken leader in the fight to protect innocent human life in Iowa,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president in a statement. “Joni Ernst will bring her record of strong pro-life leadership to the U.S. Senate.” (release)
