Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton (R) appeared on NBC’s “Today Show” 4/26 in a story that focused on how candidates like Boughton “without deep pockets,” can “possibly compete.” Boughton said he’s “received dozens of e-mails and contributions” after the appearance (Perrefort, Danbury News Times, 4/27).

Hartford Courant’s Green asked 4/23 if the LG spot was “a waste of taxpayer dollars,” and, if so, whether LG Mike Fedele (R) “really” has “an advantage in the race.”

“The statutory responsibilities” of the LG are “few.” It’s a “part-time position” that “moderates Senate sessions and fills in” for the Gov. occasionally. And Fedele has said he is “not involved in every aspect of running the state,” but Gov. Jodi Rell (R) has been “awesome in allowing [him] to do those things that were important to” him.

But Fedele has had a “sparse” schedule in ‘10. Fedele: “Just because there’s blocks of time [free] doesn’t mean I came home, put my feet up and drank coffee. It’s no different than a business schedule” (4/23).

First Selectman Tom Marsh (I) declared 4/22 that he will run as an indie instead of a GOPer (release, 4/22).
