That Time Gerald Ford Taunted a Pardoned Turkey With the Corpse of Its Dead Comrade

It’s Nov. 20, 1975, and while we don’t know if it was done by malice or over­sight, Pres­id­ent Ford is seen here taunt­ing a liv­ing tur­key with the feath­er­less corpse of an­oth­er, as if to say, “Your life is in the hands of my mercy.” 

That liv­ing tur­key, of course, wouldn’t be long for the world any­way. Ford ac­cep­ted the ready-to-roast bird from the Na­tion­al Tur­key Fed­er­a­tion while ce­re­mo­ni­ally par­don­ing the live one. Just cruel.
