Primary Season Shifts Into High Gear

The Novem­ber lineups for four big Sen­ate races will start to take shape Tues­day as voters go to the polls for primar­ies in six states. Fields will be set for what are cer­tain to be close con­tests in Arkan­sas, Ken­tucky, and Ore­gon, while a Ju­ly run­off is ex­pec­ted for the Re­pub­lic­an Sen­ate nom­in­a­tion in Geor­gia where five high-pro­file can­did­ates are run­ning for the seat be­ing va­cated by GOP Sen. Saxby Cham­b­liss. The gov­ernor’s race tops the bal­lot in Pennsylvania and a con­gres­sion­al battle in Idaho pits the Re­pub­lic­an es­tab­lish­ment against con­ser­vat­ive groups.
