Russian President Vladimir Putin is apparently striking back at the U.S. with his own sanctions against American officials — and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin is not exactly quivering in fear.

Hours after the Obama administration unveiled sanctions to punish a number of Russian and Ukrainian officials, The Daily Beast reported that Putin is crafting his own financial hit list targeting Obama administration officials and U.S. senators. Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, is said to be at the top of Putin’s sanctions list, which could be unveiled as early as Tuesday.

“My Lithuanian-born mother would be proud her son made Vladimir Putin’s American enemies list,” Durbin, who just returned from a trip to Ukraine, told National Journal.

The Obama administration levied sanctions against 11 Russian and Ukrainian officials for their roles in a referendum on Sunday in which Crimea overwhelmingly voted to secede from Ukraine and join Russia. The U.S. and other Western countries denounced the Crimea referendum as a violation of international law and Ukraine’s constitution. Russian forces continue to occupy the region.

Durbin had his own choice words for Putin. “Vladimir Putin is certainly acting like the Soviets of the past. He believes every surrounding country is his to claim,” Durbin said in an interview. “What he’s done to the Republic of Georgia during the Bush administration, what he’s done to Ukraine during this administration, has indicated his appetite for other countries is undiminished.”

Trump Won’t Debate Sanders After All

Trump, in a statement: “Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher. ... I will wait to debate the first place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be.”

"It's about time for unity," said UAW President Dennis Williams. "We're endorsing Hillary Clinton. She's gotten 3 million more votes than Bernie, a million more votes than Donald Trump. She's our nominee." He called Sanders "a great friend of the UAW" while saying Trump "does not support the economic security of UAW families." Some 28 percent of UAW members indicated their support for Trump in an internal survey.

Trump Clinches Enough Delegates for the Nomination

"Donald Trump on Thursday reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president, completing an unlikely rise that has upended the political landscape and sets the stage for a bitter fall campaign. Trump was put over the top in the Associated Press delegate count by a small number of the party's unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the convention."

Some ads will also target Latino voters and Asian American voters. The total value of the buy is about six figures according to the Clinton campaign."
