Six headlines come off the press, one at a time. Five ran at National Journal or Hotline. One we wrote ourselves. Find ours.
1Call each sheet Ran or Fake as it comes (or press R or F). Only one is fake — calling a second sheet fake moves your call to it.
2After the sixth you get a final check: change your fake call once, or send it to press as is. Then the truth comes out — the fake, how many calls you got right, and where and when each real one ran.
3Most fakes have one tell a careful reader can catch — a seat that doesn’t exist, a date that can’t be, a number that doesn’t add up. When there is one, the reveal names it.
4One run a day. Catch the fake to keep your streak, with badges for streaks, perfect weeks, front-page catches and more. Oct. 1–15 are preview days; Day 1 is Oct. 16.
The fake is never a real headline with a word swapped, and never a parody of one. It is written to sound like the desk that day, often with a detail a careful reader can check against how Washington actually works.
