PLAYING
What are the games?
Bill or Bull — five real bill titles from this Congress and one we wrote. Spot the fake.
gerry. — name the congressional district from its outline, in five guesses.
Stop the Presses — six headlines, one at a time. One never ran. Catch it before the paper goes out.
When does a new game come out?
Every day at midnight, your local time. All three games refresh at once.
Do I need an account or membership?
No. The games are free, with no login.
How do I share my result?
When you finish, use the share buttons in the result. Your score is shared without giving away the answer.
STREAKS AND BADGES
Where are my streaks saved?
In the browser you play on, and nowhere else. A different device or browser, a private window, or clearing your browser data starts a fresh record that can’t be restored.
What keeps a streak going?
Play each day’s puzzle on its own date. Missed one? You can still play it from Past days, but it won’t extend your streak. Each game’s How to play has the exact rule.
How do badges work?
Each game has its own set, for streaks, totals and good play. A new badge shows up in your result the day you earn it. See them all, with your progress toward the rest, under My record.
ABOUT THE GAMES
Where do the real ones come from?
Bills are real titles introduced in the 119th Congress, linked to congress.gov after you play. Headlines really ran, and each shows its publication and date on the reveal. District outlines are the current official boundaries.
Are the games nonpartisan?
Yes. Our fakes never name a party or take a side. Each is written to sound like the real thing, with one detail a careful reader can catch.
Who makes them?
National Journal’s editors and researchers — the same team behind our coverage of Congress, campaigns and policy.
