The death penalty isn't the only controversy in criminal justice. America now has a prison population equal to that of the entire country of Slovenia, and John Oliver is ready to explain how we got there. (There is even a Sesame Street episode devoted to the topic, if you have small children.)

Plus: The highest court just got a little higher, and joint sessions of Congress may have a whole new meaning. Washington, D.C., joined the growing list of marijuana decriminalizers.
