Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut is the latest Democratic senator to come out for a potential Hillary Clinton presidential candidacy.

Blumenthal will make a "special announcement" at a June 6 fundraiser for the super PAC Ready for Hillary in Westport, Conn., according to an invitation obtained by National Journal. Harold Ickes, a Bill Clinton White House aide who is now a senior adviser to Ready for Hillary, will also give an "important update." The event will be held at the home of Democratic donors Bill Scheffler and Ann Sheffer.

Tickets start at $201.60 (a nod to the year 2016) for the "sponsor" level and go up to $1,000 for the "cohost" level. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) (Richard A. Bloom)

Blumenthal joins Democratic Sens. Debbie Stabenow, Barbara Boxer and Dick Durbin, who announced their support for Clinton earlier this week, and Sen. Tim Kaine, who threw his support behind Clinton earlier this month. Several other Democratic leaders have urged Clinton to run.

"Across the country, Democratic leaders are stepping forward to help build a grassroots army of Hillary supporters encouraging Hillary to run," Ready for Hillary spokesman Seth Bringman said. "Like millions of everyday Americans, these Democratic leaders want Hillary to run and become the next president, and they are eager to do whatever they can to make it happen."

Blumenthal's office confirmed the event, but it could not immediately comment on the announcement.

Blumenthal and Clinton were classmates in law school and recently spent some time together during the former secretary of State's speech last month at the University of Connecticut.
