David Lachmann, Minority Chief Counsel, Constitution and Civil Justice Subcommittee

+

(Chet Susslin)

Lachmann, 55, jokes he used to cook for a living and do politics in his free time but now does politics for a living and cooks to relax. In fact, the Queens, N.Y., native has been a Judiciary Committee staffer since 1997, after eight years as a legislative assistant for then-Rep. Stephen Solarz, D-N.Y., and then as legislative director for Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y. In between high school and college, he worked as a cook in locations up and down the East Coast.
