As the daughter of powerful former Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sam Nunn, Michelle Nunn is hardly a political outsider. But she's trying to aggressively distance herself from the nation's capital in her campaign's second ad.

In the spot, she calls for banning members of Congress from ever becoming lobbyists, laments congressional gridlock, and attacks the congressional subsidy contained in President Obama's health care law.

"I don't think congressmen should get paid unless they pass a budget, and no one in Congress should get a subsidy to pay for their own healthcare," she says in the ad.

Nunn's own party affiliation is notably absent from the spot, as she's been running as a centrist in hopes of facing a very conservative Republican challenger. (The Georgia Senate primary is on May 20, and a runoff would be held July 20.) Her first ad showed her with former President George H.W. Bush at Points of Light Foundation.

Nunn's criticism of both Congress and lobbyists are part of her "five ways to fix Washington" plan she's been campaigning on. Her strategy to run as an outsider could be an effective contrast if she faces one of the three Republican congressmen—Reps. Jack Kingston, Phil Gingrey, and Paul Broun—vying for the GOP nomination to run against her.
