House Democrats Outraise Republicans In Campaign Cash

Rep. Steve Israel, DCCC Chairman, has helped the committee routinely outraise Republicans.(Richard A. Bloom)

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $4.6 million in October, significantly less than the $7 million collected by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee last month.

The NRCC had $18.2 million on hand to end October, and zero debt. The DCCC, meanwhile, reported having more than $25 million on hand.

The disparity between the two committees is not a surprise: Democrats' fundraising surged in September and October, during the run-up to and duration of the government shutdown.

The House GOP's political arm has now raised more than $51 million for the 2013-2014 election cycle.
