Obamacare Video Contest Voting Period Begins

It was supposed to start Oct. 1 but was delayed because the government shut down.

The voting period for the Healthy Young America Video contest begins Tuesday and ends Nov. 11.

The prize amounts range from $1,500 to $3,000. Voters can submit up to three votes per day, which could be limiting for some, as at least four video submissions focus on the link between being uninsured and being a zombie.

The video contest is part of the nationwide campaign to raise youth awareness about the insurance options in the Affordable Care Act.

Awareness of key provisions in the new health law is low. A survey by the Commonwealth Fund, a nonprofit research group, found that only about one in four adults ages 19 to 29 were even aware of the health law's exchanges.

More than 26 million Americans under 35 are uninsured, according to Health and Human Services Department 2012 estimates.
