D.C. loves its shrinks.

When Vitals—a doctor review and rating site with more than 3 million reviews of some 860,000 doctors—analyzed its 2013 data by medical specialty, it found that psychiatrists have the highest average ratings in Washington.

Within the district, they averaged 3.14 out of 4 stars. But on nationally, psychiatrists came in dead last in the rankings of Vitals' survey, with an average of 2.87 stars.

"Given the state of national politics, I think it's self-explanatory why psychiatrists are the highest-rated specialists in DC!" said Vitals CEO Mitch Rothschild in an email.

Vitals analyzed 108,000 total ratings in 2013, 5,500 of which were in Washington, and 1,035 of which were for D.C. psychiatrists specifically. Nationwide, the site found that cardiologists have the highest average rating at 3.40, with plastic surgeons and allergists falling close behind at 3.37 and 3.35 respectively.
