Secretary of State John Kerry is heading back to Capitol Hill next week to discuss the interim agreement reached over Iran's nuclear program.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce, R-Calif., announced that Kerry will testify before the panel on Tuesday.

"This hearing will be an opportunity for committee members of both parties to press Secretary Kerry to explain why the Obama administration believes this sanctions-easing agreement is the right course," Royce said in a release from the committee.

Diplomats from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, China, and Iran reached the initial agreement last month. Royce, who coauthored the bill to increase sanctions against Iran that passed the House earlier this year, said he believes the deal doesn't "meet the standards necessary to protect the United States and our allies."
