California will join Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia as part of a plan to align climate policy, Reuters reports. California Gov. Jerry Brown said Thursday that he would sign the agreement and host other regional leaders Monday in San Francisco to announce the plan.

“The agreement will be based on the recognition that the West Coast is bounded together by a common geography, shared infrastructure, and a regional economy with a combined GDP of $2.8 trillion,” he said in a joint media advisory. The region’s gross domestic product represents the world’s fifth-largest economy.

One source with knowledge of the plan said it would include a “carbon-pricing component.”
