Morris County Sheriff Won't Challenge Sherrill

And Republicans in the district say Mary Pat Christie is also unlikely to make a bid.

Morris County Sheriff James Gannon (R) “says he will not challenge freshman” Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D) next year, "removing one of the most formidable potential challengers from the 2020 campaign.”

Gannon: “I’m honored that people are speaking about it, but I am only interested in being Morris County Sheriff.”

“Last month, former Gov. Chris Christie floated a trial balloon for his wife, Mary Pat, to challenge Sherrill. Republicans in the” district say “they don’t believe she is interested in running.” (New Jersey Globe)

Sherrill crushed state Assemblyman Jay Webber (R) in the open-seat race to replace Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R).
