Virginia Republicans lost three House seats last week, and the 2020 jockeying has already begun behind the scenes.
State Sen. Bryce Reeves (R) may be eyeing a run against the Rep.-elect Abigail Spanberger (D-07) in 2020. Spanberger beat Rep. Dave Brat (R) in a Richmond-area district that former Rep. Eric Cantor (R) helped gerrymander for himself.
Meanwhile, former state GOP Chairman John Whitbeck is reportedly weighing a run against Rep.-elect Jennifer Wexton (D-10), who crushed Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-10) in her northern Virginia district. A Wexton-Whitback matchup in 2020 would be a rematch of the 2014 state senate special election, which Wexton won 53-38 percent. (Blue Virginia)
