Former Republican business leader Oz Griebel’s (I) campaign chairman “was charged with larceny for using $500,000 from a company where he worked to pay for personal expenses, including extended hotel stays and vacations, police said.”

Kyle Lyddy is accused of mishandling $500,000 from Match Marketing Group. “According to a warrant issued for his arrest on Sept. 4, Lyddy used his Match Marketing Group credit card to make personal purchases including a Norwegian Cruise Line vacation, a $7,000 AirBnb stay for himself and his fiancee, three Omni Hotel gift cards and numerous personal trips across the country. ...According the documents filed in court, Lyddy also spent 124 nights at a Danbury Holiday Inn and charged the nearly $10,000 bill to his employer.

Police said Lyddy purchased an iPad Pro, rented a storage unit in Monroe and paid for a Verizon cellphone plan with company funds. ... Lyddy is also accused of paying for personal purchases at CVS, Staples and Target, as well as spending $7,000 of company funds on his family’s annual charity event Light Up the Point.”

The Griebel campaign said that Lyddy has since resigned from his role with the team. (Hartford Courant)
