Former lieutenant gubernatorial nominee Linda Coleman (D) released an internal poll that found her leading Rep. George Holding (R) 45-44 percent. The survey (Aug. 23-27; 401 LVs; +/- 4.9%) was conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. A Libertarian candidate took 5 percent of the vote and another 6 percent were undecided. President Trump's job approval is underwater in the district at 44/55. (release)
Trump won the district by 12 points. Holding beat former Rep. Renee Ellmers (R) after court-ordered redistricting created a member-vs-member primary. Holding said in a recent email to supporters that his own polling showed a tight race with Coleman.
