Casey opposes SCOTUS pick before the fact

Sen. Bob Casey announced Monday he will oppose President Trump's Supreme Court nominee, about nine hours before Trump actually announced the pick. The Pennsylvania Democrat said the candidates on the Heritage Foundation list from which Trump pledged to draw judicial nominees are anti-labor and would rule to end coverage of preexisting conditions.

O'Connor looks to build bridges in Ohio

Franklin County Recorder Danny O'Connor, a Democrat, released a new TV ad, ahead of the Aug. 7 special election in Ohio's 12th District, in which he pledges to work with Trump to build better bridges and roads in central Ohio. "We have a chance to send a message not about partisanship but about pragmatism," O'Connor says in the 30-second spot, which will run on broadcast and cable.

Levin leading in California-49 poll

An internal poll conducted on behalf of environmental attorney Mike Levin and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee found Levin leading Board of Equalization member Diane Harkey, a Republican, 44-41 percent, in the race to replace Republican Rep. Darrell Issa in California's 49th district. The survey was conducted by the Feldman Group.
