CONGRESS: McMurray promoted to chief of staff in Eshoo's office

Democratic Rep. Anna Eshoo has promoted Matt McMurray to chief of staff. McMurray has worked for Eshoo since 2015, starting as legislative assistant before being promoted to legislative director in 2016; as legislative assistant he was responsible for labor, taxes, education, foreign policy, and other issues. He began his career as a staff assistant to Rep. Louise Slaughter and also served as legislative correspondent and legislative assistant.

GOVERNOR RACES: Former Greitens spox Briden joins Laxalt camp

Nevada attorney general Adam Laxalt, the Republican nominee for governor, has hired Parker Briden as his campaign spokesperson. Briden was most recently spokesperson for former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, starting with Greitens on his campaign in 2015. Prior to working for Greitens, Briden was an intern with Americans for Prosperity.

CONGRESS: Paige Decker is Ways and Means's new coalitions head

Paige Decker is the new coordinator of member services and coalitions for the House Ways and Means Committee Republican staff. Decker was an executive assistant and clerk for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, but for the past year was manager of alliance development and external relations for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization.

LAW: Parker goes from O’Melveny to Gibson Dunn

Richard Parker has joined Gibson Dunn as a partner in its antitrust practice. Parker had been at O’Melveny and Myers since 2001, his second stint at the firm, and was cochair of its antitrust and competition practice. From 1998 to 2001 he worked at the Federal Trade Commission, first as senior deputy director of the agency and then as director of the Bureau of Competition.

CONGRESS: Bowser aide Quintyre moves to Jeffries’s office

Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries has hired Christopher Quintyne as his legislative counsel, handling the armed forces, financial services, housing, and transportation portfolios. Quintyne comes from the office of Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, where he was associate director of legislative affairs. He worked in municipal government in Chevy Chase and Capitol Heights, Maryland, and as a clerk in the office of the Senate parliamentarian.

Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez has promoted Aaron Morales to press secretary from staff and media assistant. GOP Rep. David Joyce has promoted Kendall Kalagher from senior legislative assistant to legislative director and Nick Ciofani from district director to deputy chief of staff. Taylor Sexton has joined the Health and Human Services Department as a policy adviser to the assistant secretary of legislation; he comes from the office of Rep. Michael Burgess, where he was a health policy fellow.
