Cruz, O’Rourke Split Over Online Retailer Tax

Both said they are fighting for Texas businesses.

“The question of whether states can require online retailers to collect billions of dollars more in sales taxes” highlights a clear split between Sen. Ted Cruz (R) and Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D), with Cruz against and O’Rourke in support of what he said is “leveling the playing field.”

Both Cruz and O’Rourke “say they are fighting for Texas’ ‘mom and pop’ businesses,” but they differ on who needs their help—Cruz’s small online retailers or O’Rourke’s brick-and-mortar shops. (Dallas Morning News)
