State Rep. Jim Baird (R) said, “I haven’t heard that” about “parlor games” regarding whether incumbent Rep. Todd Rokita (R), who lost the Senate primary, would want to get back on the ballot. He went on to say, if Rokita did want to get back on the ballot and wanted Baird to step aside, “I haven’t even thought about that. I’ll put it this way: I’d certainly be willing to talk to him. He’s always been willing to talk to me, and I’d be willing to talk to him.” His son and campaign manager Beau Baird walked the comments back Wednesday. “Mike O’Brien, the state Republican Party’s chairman of the 4th District, said he hadn’t heard the speculation.” (Lafayette Journal & Courier)
