Former Vice President Joe Biden hit the campaign trail Tuesday, urging western Pennsylvania labor unions to rally for former federal prosecutor Conor Lamb (D), because he would “‘throw himself in front of a train’ to protect the working class from Republican-backed plans to cut Social Security and Medicaid. … The 33-year-old Lamb, Biden said, also reminded him of his late son, Beau.” (AP)

ON THE AIR. Meanwhile, the NRCC dropped another $620,000 on the race, according to recent FEC filings and released a new TV ad accusing Lamb of letting “shady gunrunners walk free” with plea deals he made as an assistant U.S. Attorney. (release)

COMING UP. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH 13) “will travel Thursday to Pennsylvania’s 18th District to campaign for Conor Lamb, the Democratic nominee in next week’s special election. Ryan lost a November 2016 leadership challenge to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, whom Lamb has said he would not support.” (Hotline reporting)

NEW NUMBERS. State Rep. Rick Saccone (R) took the lead in a new Gravis Marketing poll, with 45 percent to Lamb’s 42 percent and 13 percent undecided. The survey (March 1-5; 911 LVs; +/- 3.3%) also showed Lamb grabbing 46 percent of Independents, 13 percent of those who voted for President Trump and 31 percent of those who didn’t vote in 2016. (release)

ON THE WEB. “Susan B. Anthony’s List super PAC, an anti-abortion-rights group, is out with a five-figure digital ad and a phone banking program to attack … Lamb for “siding with Pelosi” as a ‘pro-abortion extremists.’” (Politico)
