McBath to challenge Handel

Gun-safety activist Lucy McBath, a Georgia Democrat, will challenge Republican Rep. Karen Handel in the 6th District, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. McBath had been running for the state House and has raised over $100,000. Other Democrats in the race include former TV morning host Bobby Kaple and businessman Kevin Abel.

Sex and the City star hires staff as she mulls run

Actress Cynthia Nixon has hired Rebecca Katz and Bill Hyers, both alumni of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio‘s first mayoral campaign, as she considers a primary challenge to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, NY1 reports. Nixon, who costarred on Sex and the City, has criticized Cuomo in recent months and would be the most prominent challenger in the race.

Ryan to fundraise for Lamb

Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio will travel Thursday to Pennsylvania’s 18th District to campaign for Conor Lamb, the Democratic nominee in next week’s special election. Ryan lost a November 2016 leadership challenge to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, whom Lamb has said he would not support.
