The state Republican Party chose private equity executive Chele Chiavacci Farley (R) as its challenger to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D). Farley, who earned a degree in engineering from Stanford University, says Gillibrand has done little to fix the state’s ailing bridges and roads.
Farley: “It doesn’t take an engineer to know that New York’s infrastructure is crumbling. I will deliver the funding we need to fix it.” (AP)
Gillibrand is heavily favored to win reelection.
