Former hedge fund manager David Stemerman (R) on Monday “will formally step into the crowded race, kicking off his campaign in front of General Electric’s corporate offices in Fairfield. He promises a well-funded effort built on ambitious ideas about how to fix Connecticut’s economy.”

He “has been running a stealth campaign for months, pouring in close to $2 million of his own money and hiring consultants as he builds a political organization dedicated to helping him win the Republican gubernatorial nomination.” (Hartford Courant)

ROLL WITH THE POLL. Former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz (D) says that her “polling shows that I am the strongest both in a primary, and the only Democrat that can beat the two top Republicans,” Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton (D) and former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst (R). (Connecticut Post)

THEY’RE WITH HIM. Former West Hartford Mayor Jonathan Harris (D) “rolled out a list of 59 backers. The diverse group, announced Thursday, includes three state senators, seven state representatives, the mayors of West Hartford and Meriden, 10 members of the state Democratic Party’s governing body and five local Democratic chairmen.” (Hartford Courant)

Former Comptroller Dave Walker (R) last week announced “the support of a number of prominent business leaders with various ties to Connecticut.” (release)
