Baca files for House seat, this time from the GOP

Former Rep. Joe Baca, a Democrat-turned-Republican, filed to challenge Democratic Rep. Norma Torres in California’s 35th District. Baca was defeated by Democrat Gloria Negrete McLeod in 2012 after redistricting prompted him to run in a new district. He made an unsuccessful comeback bid in 2014.

Tammy Baldwin goes on air in Wisconsin

Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin on Tuesday will roll out her first campaign ads, which tout her efforts on “Buy America” legislation and prescription-drug costs, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The spots will air in the Milwaukee and Green Bay markets.

McDaniel to primary Wicker in Mississippi

GOP state Sen. Chris McDaniel announced Monday night that he will wage a primary challenge to Sen. Roger Wicker in Mississippi. McDaniel, who nearly unseated Republican Sen. Thad Cochran in 2014 as a tea-party-aligned candidate, has a rally planned Wednesday in Ellisville.
