Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) led all of her hypothetical Democratic challengers in a new Selzer & Co. poll (Jan. 28-31; 555 LVs; +/-4.2%). “That said, Reynolds doesn’t garner more than 44 percent of the vote in any of the five matchups — a figure that underperforms both her 49 percent favorability rating and 47 percent job-approval rating among likely 2018 voters.”

Reynolds vs. state Sen. Nate Boulton (D): 41-37 percent
Reynolds vs. former state economic development chief Fred Hubbell (D): 42-37 percent
Reynolds vs. labor leader Cathy Glasson (D): 44-31 percent
Reynolds vs. former state Democratic Party Chairwoman Andy McGuire (D): 42-30 percent
Reynolds vs. former state and federal administrator John Norris (D): 41-30 percent (Des Moines Register)

WHY HE’S POLLING SO WELL. Hubbell began airing a new TV ad on Tuesday “as part of a statewide buy” calling for restoring funding to education. (release)
