Rauner calls Ives “Illinois’s worst nightmare” in ad

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner’s campaign launched its first TV ad Tuesday against fellow Republican Jeanne Ives. The statewide spot ahead of the March primary attacks Ives’s record in the legislature and calls her Democratic House Speaker Mike Madigan’s “favorite Republican and Illinois’s worst nightmare.” Ives ran her own controversial TV ad last weekend, which portrayed Rauner as an ally of transgender people, “illegal-immigrant criminals,” and abortion-rights activists.

SLF releases anti-Tester ad in Mont.

The Senate Leadership Fund released a digital ad, first reported by RealClearPolitics, that attacks Democratic Sen. Jon Tester as “just another Washington liberal,” and ties him to progressive colleagues Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, as well as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and President Obama. SLF declined to disclose the size of the buy.

Rabbi drops bid in Ohio-01

Rabbi Robert Barr ended his bid for the Democratic nomination in Ohio’s 1st District, just days after Hamilton County Clerk of Courts Aftab Pureval entered the race. Barr would have been the first rabbi elected to Congress. Pureval is now the likely nominee to face Republican Rep. Steve Chabot.
