Bachmann bows out of Minn. Senate race

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that former Rep. Michele Bachmann will not challenge newly minted Democratic Sen. Tina Smith of Minnesota. Two Republicans so far are running against Smith: state Sen. Karin Housley and dental technician Bob Anderson.

SCOTUS allows Pennsylvania redistricting to go forward

The Supreme Court denied a request by Republican leaders in the Pennsylvania state legislature to delay a court-ordered redrawing of congressional district lines, the Associated Press reported. The legislature now has until Friday to pass a new map; otherwise the court will adopt its own. Either way, the new lines should be in place within the next two weeks.

Delaney doubling down in Iowa

Democratic Rep. John Delaney of Maryland, the only declared presidential candidate for 2020, is running a second campaign ad in Iowa, scheduled to run for four weeks, according to a press release. Both ads are included in Delaney’s $1 million initial ad buy. After the first ad aired during Super Bowl Sunday in major Iowa cities, the new spot will begin playing Monday in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids on cable and network stations.
