The Arizona Republic endorsed former state Sen. Debbie Lesko (R), citing her work on “pension reform in 2016 in a way that drew the support of both parties.” The newspaper also applauded her more moderate stance on the border wall and “sympathy for those young people brought here illegally as children by their parents.” (Arizona Republic)

TRUMPISM: “At their final debate, shortly before early ballots went out, five of the Republicans running … tackled their most divisive issue. Which of them had done the most to support President Trump? …The battle to replace” former Rep. Trent Franks (R) “has turned less on any traditional conservative issue than on who would best defend the president and enact his agenda.”

Former Trump appointee Phil Lovas (R): “I’m the only one standing here to support President Trump in the primary.”

Former state Rep. Bob Stump (R): “I’ve defended him in National Review; I’ve defended him in the Daily Caller; I’ve said his energy policies give conservatives reasons to cheer.”

Former state Sen. Steve Montenegro: “I was a Trump delegate. I’ve been on national media, in English and in Spanish, to explain why what he’s doing is right.” (Washington Post)
