Former Gov. Jim Gilmore (R) announced Thursday that he will not challenge Sen. Tim Kaine (D), citing his commitment to two public corporations where he serves as director and the nonprofit, American Opportunity/Free Congress Foundation, that he leads.

Gilmore added: “Outside of that non-partisan policy work it is still my intention to remain politically active, and responsive to Virginians, President Trump and his Administration, and our nation’s Conservative leadership.” (release)

Prince William County Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart (R), 2013 lieutenant governor nominee E.W. Jackson (R), and state Del. Nick Freitas (R) are already seeking the nod to take on Kaine.
