Hillbilly Elegy author J.D. Vance (R) announced Friday that he will not run for Senate. In a statement, Vance said it is “just not a good time” and cited his commitment to his family and his nonprofit organization as among the reasons why he would not be a candidate. (Twitter)

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and NRSC Chairman Cory Gardner had previously met with Vance, and McConnell said the race would be prioritized if he jumped in.

SHOW OF SUPPORT. The Ohio Republican congressional delegation endorsed Rep. Jim Renacci’s (R-16) challenge to Sen. Sherrod Brown (D), calling Renacci a “commonsense, conservative leader who has dedicated his life to building businesses and creating jobs in our state.” (release)

Renacci faces investment banker Michael Gibbons (R) in the GOP primary.
