State Auditor Dave Yost (R) endorsed Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien (R), “becoming the first statewide officeholder to weigh in on the GOP primary to replace” Rep. Pat Tiberi (R).

“O’Brien, meanwhile, has a geographic advantage because she represents Delaware County, one of the most populous areas of the district. The one drawback: The race is a larger scale than she’s run before. Still, Yost’s endorsement is meaningful, particularly since neither Tiberi nor neighboring” Rep. Steve Stivers (R-15), the NRCC chairman, “have endorsed in the GOP primary. O’Brien has already received the backing of Delaware County Sheriff Russ Martin and Delaware County Commissioners Barb Lewis and Jeff Benton.” The primary is on May 8, ahead of an Aug. 7 special election.
