Brownback Rules Out Resignation Before Confirmation

The White House didn’t say whether it would renominate him.

Gov. Sam Brownback (R) ruled out resigning before confirmed to an ambassadorship and said he will give the State of the State Jan. 9.

Brownback: “Looking forward to another great legislative session. I will remain Governor until confirmed by the US Senate.” (Twitter)

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday declined to comment on whether President Trump would renominate Brownback. (Hotline reporting)

Brownback “next week will … and deliver the governor’s budget proposal. … Brownback had previously said that Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer was taking the lead in developing the budget proposal.” (Kansas City Star)
