President Trump met Gov. Rick Scott (R) “for lunch on the last day of 2017, saying they looked forward to working together in the new year. The two talked Sunday about ongoing hurricane recovery efforts and the need to improve the country’s aging infrastructure, according to White House spokeswoman Helen Ferre. Trump also spoke of the tax bill he signed into law before the Christmas holiday, Ferre said.”

“Scott and Trump have long been friends. In September, Trump also said he hoped Scott would run for a Senate seat.” (South Florida Sun-Sentinel)

MORE DETAILS. The “governor's office said Scott and Trump did not discuss the 2018 U.S. Senate race. … Scott is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks. He just finished out a $2 million ad blitz funded by his Let’s Get to Work political committee, which has about $500,000 cash on hand.” (Politico)
