Art Halvorson (R), a 2016 challenger and “retired Coast Guard captain from Bedford County is considering a fourth run” against Rep. Bill Shuster (R). “A recent poll commissioned by Halvorson found that the two would be in a dead heat if the election were held tomorrow—38 percent for Shuster and 36 percent for Halvorson with 26 percent unsure. The poll’s margin of error is 4 percent.

“Gravis Marketing on Nov. 21 and 22 polled 578 Republicans in the district who are likely to vote in the May primary election. Halvorson released the poll without comment.”

“Shuster, chairman of the House Infrastructure and Transportation Committee, narrowly escaped tea party conservative Halvorson in the 2016 GOP primary. Shuster had 49,393 votes to Halvorson’s 48,166. Shuster outspent Halvorson 15-to-1. Halvorson bankrolled his own campaign.” (Chambersburg Public Opinion)
