RNC Invests in Minnesota House Races

“National Republicans haven’t paid much attention to Minnesota since” Sen. Al Franken (D) “was battling” then-Sen. Norm Coleman (R) “in the closely contested 2008 race. … Until now. The RNC is investing money here designed to help Congressional Republicans as they fight for every last seat to maintain their House majority. … Kevin Poindexter, a Republican field specialist with national political experience, is already on the ground. The party recently hired two field staff and a data specialist, and more hires are on the way. The goal: the type of sophisticated get-out-the-vote infrastructure the RNC had in place in key Midwest battleground states in 2016.” (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)

Republicans are targeting Rep. Tim Walz’s (D-01) open seat and Reps. Collin Peterson (D-07) and Rick Nolan (D-08) and defending Reps. Jason Lewis (R-02) and Erik Paulsen (R-03).

ON BOARD. President Obama’s former chief of staff Denis McDonough endorsed former Defense Department official Dan Feehan (D) in the race for Walz’s open seat. And Rep. Tom Emmer (R-06) endorsed St. Louis County Commissioner Pete Stauber (R) in the race against Rep. Rick Nolan (D-08) after 2016 nominee Stewart Mills (R) declined a third bid. (Morning Take)
