The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted along party lines, 11-10, on Thursday to advance Gov. Sam Brownback’s (R) nomination to be ambassador of international religious freedom.

“If approved by the [full] Senate, he would resign as Kansas governor and be replaced by Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer (R), who is seeking the 2018 GOP nomination for governor.” (Topeka Capital-Journal)
