Community college professor Beniah McMiller (D) declared a run against Rep. Ted Budd (R). McMiller said “his profession transfers to the issues he’s most concerned about. He said cuts proposed to education programs by President Donald Trump have the potential to ‘drastically reduce standards across our country.’”

“The second declared candidate is Adam Coker of Greensboro.” (Salisbury Post)

Budd, a freshman, won a seat that was newly created by court-ordered redistricting. Located in North Central North Carolina, the district backed President Trump by 9 points.
