Rep. Rob Woodall (R) “is all-in in the race to” become the next House Budget Committee chair if the spot opens up. Rep. Diane Black (R-TN 06), the current chair, “has not yet said when she plans to leave her position” while she makes a run for governor of Tennessee. Woodall faces competition from Reps. Steve Womack (R-AR 03) and Bill Johnson (R-OH 06). But Woodall “said he has talked individually with members of the House GOP Steering Committee about his interest in chairing the panel.” (Roll Call)

Woodall, a Democratic target this cycle, was out-raised in the third quarter by ex-state Senate Budget Dir. Carolyn Bordeaux (D) and attorney Ethan Pham (D).
