The DGA on Thursday threatened to file campaign finance complaints “and pursue all legal remedies” against state Treasurer Walker Stapleton (R) and his supporters for “coordinated activities with a supposedly independent group Better Colorado Now.

“According to news reports, the independent expenditure committee Better Colorado Now is hosting a private fundraiser to support Stapleton’s [yet-to-be-declared] candidacy, charging $10,000 per couple to attend.” (release)

Stapleton is “headlining an Aug. 21 fundraiser for the group. … A Stapleton political adviser declined to comment on the letter, but his side previously has argued that the two-term state treasurer was on firm legal ground to go to the fundraiser because he’s not officially a candidate — though Stapleton is widely expected to run.” (Denver Post)
