Two more Dems show interest in Tsongas's seat
Two more candidates have formed exploratory committees to run for retiring Democratic Rep. Niki Tsongas’s seat in Massachusetts, according to The Lowell Sun. State Sen. Barbara L’Italien (D) and political consultant Steve Kerrigan (D) are considering bids. Former mayoral chief of staff Daniel Koh (D) has already announced his candidacy for the district, which leans heavily Democratic.
Murphy leads Guadagno in poll
Democrat Phil Murphy leads New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, a Republican, 58-33 percent in a Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters to replace term-limited GOP Gov. Chris Christie in November. But about 40 percent of voters say they didn’t know enough about either candidate to form a favorable or unfavorable opinion of them.
Lierman joins Team Delaney
Former Maryland Democratic Party Chair Terry Lierman will cochair Rep. John Delaney‘s presidential campaign. Delaney, who The Baltimore Sun reports “has already visited several early primary states,” said in a statement: “We’re going to run an aggressive campaign that’s on the ground early making the case that it’s time to leave the tired battles of the past behind and start focusing on the future.” Lierman served as treasurer for former Gov. Martin O’Malley’s unsuccessful presidential bid in 2016.
