Democracy for America endorsed state House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams (D) on Monday, pledging to support her if she makes good on signals to run on 2018. “DFA has 32,379 members in Georgia.”

Democracy for America Executive Director Charles Chamberlain: “Stacey Abrams is undoubtedly the best candidate to lead Georgia. She has a bold progressive vision of the state which includes ending generational poverty across Georgia.” (release)

EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock on Monday praised Abrams and said the group was closely watching the race, noting that EMILY’s List awarded Abrams its first of Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award in 2014. State Rep. Stacey Evans (D) may also run.

Schriock: “We have been really close with her [Abrams] for a long time. … She’s going to announce relatively soon, and we are really excited for her, and we’ll be making quick decisions about support for Stacey. … We haven’t made any final decisions. We’re trying to figure out the dynamics of that race.” (Hotline reporting)
