Sen. Orrin Hatch (R) drew “polite applause” at Utah’s Republican Convention over the weekend and did not give a speech, “probably the first time that has happened in the half-century Hatch has been coming to Utah state GOP conventions.” Hatch, who was not booed at all, “was worried about a hostile reception in the before the delegates." He was not “roundly cheered,” either. The senator’s presumed 2018 campaign manager Dave Hansen, beforehand, had organized Hatch’s “appearance very carefully.” (UtahPolicy.com)

Hatch has not formally announced he will seek reelection, though he has hinted he is preparing to run again.
