Rep. Bruce Poliquin (R) “has been individually reaching out to moderate Democrats trying to get them to meet with officials from the White House congressional liaison office. So far, no meeting has taken place, but several Democrats involved said it may happen next week.
“Poliquin has been selling the potential meeting as an opportunity to find bipartisan cooperation on measures to repair and build on the nation’s infrastructure and create jobs.”
“The outreach has centered on Democrats belonging to the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and the moderate New Democrat Coalition. Members Poliquin reached out to include Blue Dog cochairmen” Henry Cuellar (TX-28) and Daniel Lipinski (IL-03); New Democrat Coalition Chairman Jim Himes (CT-04); and Rep. Beto O’Rourke (TX-16), “who on Friday is expected to announce a Senate bid to challenge” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). “Other members approached include” Reps. Stephen Lynch (MA-08), Stephanie Murphy (FL-07), Collin Peterson (MN-07), and Kurt Schrader (OR-05). (National Journal)
