Rep. Bruce Poli­quin (R) “has been in­di­vidu­ally reach­ing out to mod­er­ate Demo­crats try­ing to get them to meet with of­fi­cials from the White House con­gres­sion­al li­ais­on of­fice. So far, no meet­ing has taken place, but sev­er­al Demo­crats in­volved said it may hap­pen next week.

“Poli­quin has been selling the po­ten­tial meet­ing as an op­por­tun­ity to find bi­par­tis­an co­op­er­a­tion on meas­ures to re­pair and build on the na­tion’s in­fra­struc­ture and cre­ate jobs.”

“The out­reach has centered on Demo­crats be­long­ing to the fisc­ally con­ser­vat­ive Blue Dog Co­ali­tion and the mod­er­ate New Demo­crat Co­ali­tion. Mem­bers Poli­quin reached out to in­clude Blue Dog co­chair­men” Henry Cuel­lar (TX-28) and Daniel Li­p­in­ski (IL-03); New Demo­crat Co­ali­tion Chair­man Jim Himes (CT-04); and Rep. Beto O’Rourke (TX-16), “who on Fri­day is ex­pec­ted to an­nounce a Sen­ate bid to chal­lenge” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). “Oth­er mem­bers ap­proached in­clude” Reps.
